Ash questions
What is Ash?+
Ash is a stack plugin: a detuned double, formant shelf, and mid/side width so one scream take feels like a layered pass. Sit it after Gravel or on a raw vocal bus.
Where does it sit in a chain?+
After the scream source (Gravel convert or a recorded take), before or instead of a full Bedrock rack. Use Ash when you want density and width without another convert.
What do the knobs do?+
Detune sets how far the double drifts in cents. Formant tilts presence darker or brighter. Width opens the stereo image. Doubles is the second-voice amount. Mix and Output blend and level.
Is Ash really free?+
Yes. Download it and use it — no key, no trial clock, no card. VST3 on Windows and Mac, AU on Mac.
Ash vs Anvil?+
Ash stacks and widens. Anvil is the metal vocal bus — drive, mid, de-harsh, mono low, ceiling — for making the scream sit in a mix.
GarageBand or Logic asks to lower security settings. Should I?+
Yes. Those apps come from the Mac App Store, so the first time either one loads one of these plugins, macOS asks to lower that app’s security settings. Click Lower Security Settings and enter your Mac password. It asks once per app, then remembers. FL Studio and REAPER do not show this prompt.
